The Bachelors in Trouble are celebrating their silver jubilee on the circuit. Friends and supporters were out in style in Crotty’s of Leamybrien on Friday night for a special celebrations to mark the event. The night also saw the launch of their brand new dvd, 25 of The Bachelors – Fun, Laughter and Song.

For Tony Coffey, Sean Murphy, William Walsh and the rest of the merry crew, it was a night to look back on and cherish some golden memories since they first started out in late 1988.

Joining them for the celebrations and entertaining the folks were Mike Fitzgerald, Helen Scollard and Southern Pride, Teddy and Cathal Barry, Pat Tobin and Paddy Greenslade.

“We have wicked loyal supporters entirely,” enthuses Tony Coffey.

“The new dvd is a nostalgic look back over the years and includes a mix of material from former times and stuff we recorded in recent months. We had more hair then than now,” quips Tony.

Back in 1992, Tony was the winner of the All-Ireland Culchie title which was staged in Castlebar.

“We were invited onto the Late Late Show after that and this features in the dvd. We have had some great times over the years and have raised thousands for various causes. We are unique, there is no other act like us on the circuit at all.”

Referring to the passing of time, Tony says that some of the cast that started off with them back in 1988 have passed on since. The proceeds from the new dvd will be presented to Fr John Delaney for the churches in Kilrossanty and Fews.

“Fr John has been a friend of ours for a long time and has appeared in several of our videos. He loves our shows and we have great time for him,” adds Tony.

Copies of 25 of The Bachelors - Fun, Laughter and Song are available in music outlets countrywide or can be ordered direct from Tony on 087-9448828. “It will make a grand Christmas gift and we will handle orders from all over the world and beyond, if needs be,” says Tony with a glint in the eye.
