Opportunity to see Irish vaulters in action

All are welcome to attend the Equestrian Vaulting Ireland (EVI) National competition at Kells Equestrian Centre in Carlanstown, Co Meath, this Saturday, 4 November. Vaulting is a relatively new equestrian discipline to Ireland and this will be EVI’s third national vaulting competition.

The competition will begin at 11am.

International results round-up

Darragh Kenny and Go Easy De Muze won the 1m55 Grand Prix at the French three-star show in Montpellier on Sunday last.

The pairing were one of seven combinations who made it into the jump-off and produced what proved an unbeatable clear in a time of 40.92. French riders filled the remaining top places, with Guillaume Batillat finishing closest to the Irish winner with Denitha (41.78)’

Abbie Sweetnam and Dynamite Spartacus (ISH) scored two wins last weekend at Verona’s World Cup show. The pair had come out on top in Saturday’s speed class before also taking the feature 1m30 Pony Grand Prix in stunning fashion on Sunday.

Seamus Hughes-Kennedy took third place on the podium with Cuffesgrange Cavalidam (ISH).

TRYON TEST

Paul O’Shea and Skara Glen’s Machu Picchu beat off a top class international field in the early hours of Sunday morning, to claim top honours at Tryon International Equestrian Center (USA) in the $130,000 Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport three-star Grand Prix.

The competition served as the final Saturday Night Lights of the season, and also the first Test Event prior to the FEI World Equestrian Games Tryon 2018 for the discipline of jumping.

Extra speakers announced for Coaching and Breeding Conference

Horse Sport Ireland (HSI) has announced that international event rider Andrew Hoy has been added to the line-up for the 2017 HSI National Coaching and Breeding Conference. He will discuss the breeding and production of potential top-level event horses for the future.

Veterinary surgeon Larry Dunne and Russell Guire of Centaur Biomechanics have also been added to the line-up of speakers.

Dunne will be on hand to discuss equine reproduction, retaining pregnancies in mares and the embryo transfer process, while Guire will discuss his work with the British Equestrian Federation (BEF), assisting riders on both the World Class Programme and Team GB.
