Flavour of Fingal County Show takes place on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 June in the beautiful surroundings of Newbridge House and Farm in Donabate, Dublin. The festival’s organisers describe it as the event “where town meets country” and they are expecting to see up to 60,000 people attend over the weekend.

The show is a free event and is for farmers and foodies and will see plenty of activity over the weekend from vintage vehicles to a petting zoo.

Sample all the delicious artisan food that will be on offer from local producers in the Dublin and Meath area. The food village will be in the walled gardens of Newbridge House and there will also be craft and music entertainment.

There really is something for everyone in the family here, with sheepdog trials taking place too. Why not enter your prized stock into one of the livestock or equine competitions? There will be a €15,000 prize fund for livestock classes, including a €10,000 prize fund for the All-Ireland Commercial Calf Championship, which is open to all non-pedigree calves born from 1 January 2017.

Along with the prize fund for each of the livestock classes, there is a €500 fund for the overall and reserve champion.

This year’s show will also feature a display of 100 years of Irish farming, similar to the Teagasc event in Athenry in 2016 which will really bring you back in time.

Two new events at this year’s show will be a display of horsemanship, stunts and tricks by the Cavalry Heroes. There will also be a display of chainsaw carving.

There will be plenty for the children too, with a dedicated kids’ zone with bouncing castles, archaeological digs, cycle obstacle courses, a Wild Air Run and kids golf too.

The event is organised by a voluntary committee and Fingal County Council. For more information, visit www.flavoursoffingal.ie.
