Seat in Ireland has appointed Finbarr Galvin Motors as a new Seat dealer at their premises in Victoria Cross, Cork city, in addition to their existing Seat dealership in Bandon, Co Cork. Finbarr Galvin has been operating in Bandon since 1975 and remains an independent family-owned dealership which now employs 27 staff. Justin Galvin is managing director of the Finbarr Galvin Group.

Volkswagen Golf wins top accolade in Japan

For the first time in the history of the Japanese Car of the Year award, a foreign car, the Volkswagen Golf, has beaten local competition to be named Japanese Car of the Year 2013/14. The jury of Japanese journalists highlighted, in particular, the new Modular Transverse Matrix (MQB) as a core strength of the Golf. This MQB forms the basis for precise handling with simultaneously high levels of ride comfort and driving pleasure, the jurors said.

Other Golf features to earn praise included the excellent standard of safety, the clear and clean design, the high-quality interior and exterior finish and the highly modern TSI engines. The Volkswagen Golf already took first place in the Car of the Year 2013 (Europe), the World Car of the Year 2013 and the Golden Steering Wheel 2013.

Ford shows Ka concept

Ford has revealed the Ka Concept, the company’s vision for its new small car. The new Ka, due in 2016, aims to offer advanced technology and clever design at an affordable price. It will be designed to seat five comfortably and will be equipped with technology usually found in larger cars, such as the MyFord Dock and the Ford SYNC with Voice Control and AppLink system.
