Over 370 jobs were created across just seven poultry and egg companies that supplied the Irish Farmers Journal with information about their recruitment.
Manor Farm
2014 was a busy year for Manor Farm. The company, which employs 867 people altogether, created 52 new positions, which were operative positions for the most part. The company also took on 182 students over the summer to help cover the demands of BBQ season. Twenty-four replacement positions were also filled.
Silver Hill
By the end of 2014, Silver Hill will have taken on 10 seasonal staff during the summer and 10 seasonal staff in the winter, and plans to do the same next year.
The company has 160 full-time staff and hopes to grow that to over 200 in the next five years through expansion. Silver Hill says it doesn’t have a high turnover of staff; 80% have been on board for at least 10 years.
Greenfield Foods
Seven weekend and holiday relief factory workers were hired in Greenfield Foods in 2014 – five of which were replacements. The company also filled two full-time positions and two part-time positions.
Hogan’s Farm
Hogan’s Farm has taken on 11 people in 2014 – 10 general operatives and one in product development. They expect to take on five to 10 people in 2015.
ShannonVale Foods
ShannonVale Foods took on 20 people altogether in 2014. Ten of these were replacements and 10 were new positions.
It plans to take on the same again in 2015, while another poultry company that supplied us with information took on 30 to 40 people this year and plans to do the same in 2015.
Annalitten Eggs
Annalitten Eggs took on one person in 2014 in a newly created position.
