The Samco Company was established in Ireland in 1997 by Samuel Shine, who is the original inventor and patent holder of the Samco three-in-one maize-sowing machine. Samuel developed the machine to guarantee local farmers a crop of quality forage maize in a cool, less-than-favourable climate for maize corn growing.

The Samco System involves the use of a three-in-one machine that sows maize corn seed, sprays a pre-emergence herbicide on the soil and lays a thin layer of degradable mulch film over the soil in one pass.

This approach increases air and ground temperature and protects the young seedlings from adverse weather and late frosts. The Samco System can be used in a range of climatic conditions, depending on the customer’s requirements.

Samco also manufactures the degradable film for their sowing system.

Samco is involved with other companies in the research and development of mulch film types, maize corn varieties and weed control formulations, with many trials carried out each year to ensure customer satisfaction.

For this year’s FTMTA Grass & Muck 2014, Samco will be showing the new heavy-duty Field Lift two-leg, three-leg and four-leg subsoilers. Each leg has one easily replaceable wear tip for land preparation.

Samco will also show the new Samco Bag Press, which is a storage solution system for wholecrop wheat, crimped grains and forage maize.
