I’m a cosmo-holic because I absolutely adore makeup and beauty products. I’m totally in my element in any Boots, chemist or at a cosmetic counter. I’m always on the lookout for the latest must-have products. Part of the fun is searching, touching, trying and smelling all the testers. I’ve nearly missed flights because I’ve been so ensconced in the perfume department!

I think it’s the best feeling when you come across a beauty product that’s new, affordable and makes you look and feel glam in minutes. Even though my dressing table and makeup bags are bursting, I still can’t resist that darling Estée Lauder baby pink lipgloss and yet another blusher buffer.

So, this month, I’m sharing a few of my favourite beauty treats:

1 Masque-rade: The Masque Bar Brightening Sheet Mask is an A-list fav, with fans including singer Adele. Your face will feel soft and well-hydrated after use. Stockists include www.boots.ie for €13.49 for three mask sachets.

2 Lip-smacking: I am a huge fan of Kate Moss, so I completely fell in love with Kate’s new lipstick range by Rimmel London, with four new shades (RRP €7.95). The neutral soft tones and ultra-bright sexy red tones can be worn on any occasion to add a bit of glamour. Another bargain buy is Maybelline’s Colour Sensational Vivid Matte Liquid lipstick in “orange shot” and “rebel red” (RRP €10.75). To really make the colour pop, line your lips with a bright red or pink lip liner first, then apply the liquid gloss. Or if you prefer a slightly toned-down effect, dab concealer over your lips, then apply the bright gloss over that.

3 In your prime: I adore the Smashbox photo finish foundation primer. It minimises open pores, blurs away fine lines and mattifies the skin, preparing it so that your foundation will easily blend on to your face and give you a smooth and flawless finish. A great product that never fails to please. Stockists include www.arnotts.ie at €36 for 30ml.

4 Give it zing: Origins GinZing refreshing eye cream works wonders. The ginseng, coffee bean and magnolia pack a punch against puffy, tired eyes. It’s revitalising, smells great and is a perfect product for your wash bag. Stockists include www.boots.ie for €29.

5 Care for your hair: Save your hair from turning 50 shades of green by applying Aveda sun care protective hair veil before you dive into that chlorine-filled pool. Stockists include Brown Thomas for €28.50. If you don’t use a product to protect your hair – especially if it’s bright peroxide blonde – and it does turn green, then a tried and tested “degreener” is good old tomato ketchup. Pop an old towel around your shoulders and literally cover the hair in thick ketchup! Leave ketchup for a good 15 minutes and shampoo off.

6 TLC: Nurse frazzled summer hair back to health with the new olive oil-infused Garnier Ultimate Blends shampoo and conditioner. My daughters Ruby and Lydia both have long, wavy hair and despite a week of swimming and sunshine on holidays, their tresses were healthy, strong and sleek after just one wash – it’s a thumbs up from the teens. Check your supermarket shelves for special offers.

7 Scents & sensibility: Jimmy Choo Illicit Flower perfume is my recent favourite. This light apricot and orange flower base smells fresh and clean and so beautifully feminine. Stockists include www.boots.ie from €43 for 40ml.

8 Give it a lash: I’m a big fan of thick, black lashes and I found my new mascara to do just that: Falsies Volume Express Mascara by Maybelline (RRP €11.99). Apply two or three good coats, let each coat dry and you will have thick, luscious lashes in an instant.

9 Or fake it: I love wearing fake lashes and Kiss have just bought out the Trio Lash – three tiny bunches of lashes knotted together, with a clear glue included. Having the teeny clump of lashes makes the job of applying so much quicker and easier. Always apply your mascara first, then pop on the lashes using tweezers and press a cotton bud lightly at the root of the lash to make sure it’s firmly in position. At €10.49 for a packet of 30 from www.boots.ie, these lashes will really glam up your makeup look and can last approx two days after application.

10 All that glitters: My final favourite product is Star Dust and Glitter by Beauty Boulevard – so ’80s but so now. This premium body and lip glitter is for all party people wanting to shimmer at any occasion or festival. Once you have applied your makeup, simply blend a small amount of the binding gel to your face or body from the Star Dust kit and sweep on a dusting of the sparkly glitter. I was in London at a party a few weeks ago, and to finish off my look I popped on a pink lip liner and lashed on the glitter lips in ruby slippers. So many people commented on my amazing lipstick and it lasted all night. Available from selected salons in Ireland or online at www.beautyboulevard.co.uk with RRP €16.95/£12.50. CL
