A bout of laryngitis led to the cancellation of four of Johnny McEvoy’s concerts last week. These shows in Galway, Castlebar, Derry and Sligo have now been rescheduled to another date. Johnny hopes to be back on tour for Enniscorthy (Thursday), Warrenpoint (Friday) and Killarney (Saturday).

Killeshill Community Centre, Dungannon, is the venue for a fundraising concert on 17 November. The venture is being coordinated by Gene Stuart and a local committee. The show starts at 9pm and features Declan Nerney, Brendan Quinn, Susan McCann, Seamus McGee, Trevor Dixon, Jenna Sloane, Jason Travers, and the Session Band. The compere is Hugh Duncan.

Tyrone man Jim Devine continues his busy schedule, following the release of his album Devine Country, as well as his summer single We’re Here To Stay, Jim was among the award recipients at the Northern Ireland Awards night in the Armagh City Hotel last Monday night.

The death took place last week of Catherine Murray, Carragh, Granard. She was a sister of country singer Chuck Owens and an aunt of well-known studio producer Jonathon Owens. Condolences to her husband Michael, sons Ciaran, Declan and Colm, daughter Karine and the family.

Mary O’Connor has released her latest single, I Promise You, a song composed by the great Johnny Cash. The Abbeylara-based singer has also completed a video for the song, filmed around Keadue in Roscommon. A new album is due out next summer.

Jimmy Moran, Vicar Street, Tuam, who died last weekend, was father of Leo Moran of The Sawdoctors. Jimmy is survived by his sons John and Leo and the family circle. Condolences are extended at this sad time.
