After 31 consultations carried out by the Hen Harrier Project last year, an annual report has revealed that the word farmers most associate with their land is "rushy".

In a potentially contentious move, the word was removed from the official word cloud in the report to highlight other key associative words.

Over 500 farmers attended the consultations and other words in the word cloud included mountain, forestry, disadvantaged, hard work and suckler.

Outlook

The word "restrictions" was most associated with the hen harrier, and "forestry" and "no farming" were highlighted as key terms when people were asked what their outlook for farming in their area was like in 20 years' time.

When farmers were asked to describe farming in their area in 20 years' time "in an idea world", the word "profitable" was chosen by the farmers.

The Dealer isn’t sure how many word clouds it would to take to convert that dream into a reality.
