Manager John O’Mahony said there has been an increase on numbers compared with last year and demand for all classes of stock remains strong.

Good turnout

There was a good turnout of lambs with prices varying depending on the specs. Store lambs sold for between €58 to €77 with lighter hill-type stores back to €45 per head.

Factory lambs were making between €75 to €85 per head while the heavier butcher lambs generally sold for between €80 and €89. Ewe lambs especially were in demand.

Heavier lambs back slightly

On a per-kilo basis, lowland lambs were making €2.10/kg to €2.30/kg with some pulling in a few more euro.

Heavier lambs were back a touch selling for between €1.95 to €2.07/kg. Crossbred hill lambs sold for between €1.85/kg to €2/kg and Scotch lambs were making €1.70/kg to €1.85/kg.

Cull ewes made from €18 to €56 per head with factory cull ewes making up to €101.

Breeding ewes made up to €165.

  • Ten wethers, 30kg: €69, €2.30/kg.
  • Fourteen wethers, 28.9kg: €63, €2.18/kg.
  • Two wethers, 40kg: €85, €2.13/kg.
  • Six ewes, 43kg: €89, €2.07/kg.
  • Four ewes, 42kg: €86, €2.05/kg.
  • Fourteen wethers, 37.5kg: €72.50, €1.93/kg.
  • Eighteen ewes, 32.5kg: €67, €2.06/kg.
  • Nine rams, 36.1kg: €70, €1.94/kg.
