Saturday past, Hennessy Auctioneers held its monthly machinery auction at the old mart in Portlaoise, Co Laois.

As usual, there was a good variety of farm and plant machinery was up for grabs. Over 373 lots sold on the day, equating to a clearance rate of 86%. Some of the larger lots remain under offer.

Speaking with John Hennessy he said, “There was a strong trade Saturday although crowds were back in numbers on last month. But similar to August’s auction, there was a strong presence of online bidders. In total, there were over 200 bidders registered online, most of whom would have viewed the lots here in the yard on Friday and Saturday morning.”

All prices had no VAT unless otherwise stated. Commission was charged at 5% plus VAT on all lots with a maximum fee of €1,000 plus VAT.

Next month’s auction is scheduled to take place on Saturday 24 October.
