Bonmahon Master Blue
A six-year-old grey stallion bred by Alan Robertson of Miltown, Co Tyrone. He is out of a jumping mare Sambia and by world top ten sire Mister Blue, who has produced great international performers like Plot Blue. The army first saw him in the five-year-old class at Cavan Show.
Templetouhy
A six-year-old bay mare bred by Marion Hughes and Miguel Bravo of Cuffsgrange, Co Kilkenny. She is by Marion’s jumping stallion Heritage Fortunus, who has a five-star rating. She is out of La Juanita, who was by John Hughes’ replacement for Cavalier Royale Don Juan. She jumped in the five-year-old final at Dublin last August.
Dunganstown Boy
A seven-year-old grey stallion bred by Harold McGahern of Granard, Co Longford, out of his mare who was a good Grand Prix winner for the Army, Rincoola Abu by Cruising. Dunganstown Boy is by world number five rated sire Diamant de Semilly. Minister for Defence Paul Keogh named him after JFK’s ancestral home.
Tullig Mor
An eight-year-old bay gelding bred by William Kennedy of Kennedy Equine Centre, Tralee. He is by Aldatus Z that has Alme and Cor de la Bryere in his background. His dam KEC Daltons Diamond is by Glidawn Diamond that goes back to Diamond Lad.
Sea Patrick
A seven-year-old bay mare bred by Michael Murphy of Ballybrittas, Portlaoise. She is by Iroko by Pilot and out of the Master Imp dam Ankela. OC McSweeney notes that this mare, who came from Mickie McCann, could go either eventing or show jumping.
River Derg
An eight-year-old bay gelding bred by Maeve McEvoy in Gortaclare, Co Tyrone. He is by VDL Douglas and out of the traditionally-bred mare Lismore Promise by Western Promise. Capt Geoff Curran will ride this one in eventing and hopes to aim him at the Irish team for the Rio Olympics.
