With the European round of foal and breeding stock sales due to get underway at Goffs on Monday there were plenty of positive indicators from the first week of Keeneland’s marathon November Sale.
A total of 18 lots reached the $1m barrier which was four more than 2013. In addition the North American record price for a foal was broken when a daughter of the elite sire Tapit fetched $3m.
The overall sale topper at Keeneland came in at $3.9m and this honour went to Aloof who was a Group 3 winner for David Wachman at Gowran in September 2012. The powerful American outfit Whisper Hill Farm saw off Moyglare Stud for the Galileo mare who was sold in foal to War Front.
