It was a good week at Goffs as the company’s February Sale surpassed last year’s returns.

The two-day sale had to compete with a 2014 edition that produced a top price of €975,000 but this proved no barrier to further gains. The aggregate for the two days grew by 31% to over €5.3m. The average of €16,214 was fractionally ahead of last year’s figure but the median progressed by 43 points to €10,000. The clearance rate jumped from 68 to 81%.

Day one played host to excellent yearling trade and the following afternoon witnessed a notable improvement in demand for breeding stock.
