The Irish made their presence know at Bolesworth International. Limerick’s Paul Kennedy took home victory in Sunday’s four-star Equerry Grand Prix.

Ireland’s Billy Twomey set the time to beat in the Grand Prix jump off riding the Kim Barzilay-owned Kimba Flamenco. 24-year-old Kennedy was last to go in the jump off and stopped the clock .09 seconds ahead of Twomey’s time, leaving the Cork-born rider in second and Britain’s John Whitaker in third with Cassinis.

Kennedy was riding Jane Kennedy’s Irish Sport Horse mare Cartown Danger Mouse.

Ireland filled another two places within the top 10, with Richard Howley in sixth and Clem McMahon tenth with Pacato.

Ireland also dominated in the Puissance, filling the top six places. Shane Breen and Acorad 3 won the class. Anthony Condon, Michael Pender, Richard Howley, Paul Kennedy shared second, and David Simpson came home in sixth place.

Paul Kennedy and Cartown Danger Mouse also recorded a win on Friady in the four-star International Feature Class. Shane Breen and Csf Vendi Cruz finished as runners-up in the same class.

Watson and Daniels on form at Luhmuhlen

The CCI4* competition at Luhmühlen Horse Trials caused it’s fair share of trouble, partricularly in the cross country phase. Sarah Ennis was Ireland’s highest placed rider after dressage, unfortunetly she had a run out with Horseware Stellor Rebound and decided to retire on the crosscountry.

Sam Watson with his second ride of the day, Horseware Ardagh Highight, and Cathal Daniels with Rioghan Rua were two of only five combinations to go clear inside the time cross country. Unfortunetly both Watson and Daniels hit two show jumps each, adding eight penalties to their overnight scores. Watson finished in sixth place and Daniels filled seventh place. Patrica Ryan and Dunrath Eclipse finished 12th, the combination only added time penalties from the cross country phase and had one show jump down on the final day of the competition.

2018 Badminton Horse Trials winner Jonelle Price bagged her second four-star win of the year, this time with Faerie Dianimo. This same combination finished second in the George Mernagh Memorial CIC3* at Tattersalls International.

Michelle Kenny recorded one her best results this season in the CIC3* competition. She finished fifth riding Carlchen.
