It seems we are in for another few weeks at home, but at least this time the days are getting brighter and hopefully the weather, too! I always like to lighten my make up at this time of year to move with the changing weather and warmer, brighter days. As with any time of year, it is always important to apply a good-quality SPF facial cream every day; especially if you’re working outdoors. A great all-rounder, which will give you sun protection and is also anti-ageing, is L’Oreal Paris Revitalift SPF Anti-Ageing + Firming Pro Retinol Day Cream with SPF30 (€19.99) Revitalift is formulated with pro retinol, which helps reduce the appearance of wrinkles and gives your skin a healthy looking glow. It is a great make up base too.
For makeup at this time of year, I like to keep things light; opting more for sheer coverage and cream products. A great day-to-day base is Rimmel BB cream (€7.45); it has a light feel but still provides great coverage. It evens out skin tone, protects it from the elements and is especially long-wearing. The cream easily sweeps over your skin; concealing the look of minor blemishes and other imperfections. Delivering a matte finish, the BB cream is complete with SPF25. Once applied it instantly smooths the face; giving an invisible, natural-looking finish.
In keeping with the light and creamy textures for this time of year, a cream blush gives a gorgeous flush of colour – as well as looking super healthy. 
The cream blush within the Ayu Perfect Hue palette (pictured right, €50) complements all skin tones and also contains three soft pink eyeshadows to brighten the eyes. Remember: when applying your colour products, use a light touch, it is always easier to add more on than to try take it away. You will always get a softer more natural finish when using a light hand.
Finally, we want to brighten up the eyes. A good coat of mascara opens the eyes up and allows them to shine. When choosing a mascara, be sure to look at the brush size before buying to ensure you get the right one. A full brush will give you volume, skinny wands will lengthen, curved wands will curl and a tapered wand will add definition. It is not something we usually think to look at, but will make a big difference on the finish you will achieve. If you like to mix and match, Essence do great, affordable mascaras so you can build a little collection to go with what look you are going for an any given day.
