Billed as a race for anybody who has an interest in the outdoors – and a sense of humour – the Beach Bog Run takes place in Castletown, Gorey, this Saturday 12 April. Former Irish rugby international Shane Byrne will oversee proceedings, as stamina and endurance are put to the test over muddy bogs, forest, road and one of north Wexford’s finest beaches, with 6km and 10km race options. Online registration fee is €25, which includes a race T-shirt, car parking, transport to the start line and post-race hot drinks. Late registration will be open on the day from 10am, with the race starting at 1pm. Funds are in aid of underage development of Castletown’s GAA club. See www.beachbogrun.ie
