The first commemorative garden in Ireland to highlight the importance of organ donation was officially launched this week in Salthill, Co Galway. The Circle of Life garden was developed by the Strange Boat Donor Foundation, which was established by the parents of Éamonn Goggin, a young Galway man whose organs were donated following a road crash in 2006. Since its inception, the foundation has been actively involved in promoting and supporting this life-giving cause. The Circle of Life garden is a totally voluntarily funded project which has cost approximately €150,000, almost all of which has been procured through voluntary donations and sponsorship, and developed in partnership with Galway City Council.
