Fergal Flannagan and the Dyer family continued their winning ways with their champion heifer from Tullamore.

This girl will need a wall solely dedicated to her rosettes from the 2018 showing season.

Pedigree sections

Angus champion went to Gerry Kilgannon with his 2013-born cow, Mayo Karin, sired by Westellen Dekay Grandslam J694. This was a repeat performance from last year's show. Reserve went to Bernard Kerins, Co Sligo.

Shorthorn champion went to the Flatley Bros Kilkelly for their January 2017-born heifer Glann Jane. Sired by Doon Erasmus and out of Woodfield Molly 7th.

Charolais Champion Ardabrone Molly came up trumps again for Karl Kelly, Sligo.

Molly is by Inverlochy Ferdie, dam is Sagesse Brillante out of Uranus. Reserve with to the McHugh family for their November 2017 bull Rivergloir Notorious, sired by Utrillo BP

Simmental championship went to the Paddy Hennelly, Co Sligo, another frequent visitor to the champions enclosure.

Limousin championships

Swinford treated the spectators to a fantastic display of young Limousin stock with the North West Calf Championships.

Winners from the six classes of bull and heifer calves entered the ring for the northwest calf final adjudicated by UK judge Mark Philips.

The super stylish Bohogue Nadia took the champion sash and went on to win Limousin champion of the show. The Earley family capped off their successful day when Aidan Holohan tapped out Bohogue Nadia as interbreed champion of the show.

All Ireland breeding heifer championship

The highlight of the day, the all-Ireland breeding heifer championship, sponsored by Progressive Genetics was another feast of quality cattle from all over Ireland.

All Ireland Breeding heifer champion for the McPadden Family, Co Offaly with judges, show committee and Martin Regan, sponsor for Progressive Genetics.

Previous winners Paul and James McPadden from Co Offaly had the task of judging this event.

One of the largest crowds from recent years watch this excellent display of heifers which saw Kevin Clancy’s Limousin X heifer, exhibited by Ciaran Golden and Michael Feeney tapped out as champion.

Going by the huge cheer from the crowd watching, this was a popular choice. This heifer was sired by Icecream.
