Local treasures

Seán and Anna Marie Melody of Co Mayo have been making the most of country living during lockdown; going to regular loop walks with mum, Ruth. She writes:

“We walk the Attymass Loop: Currower, Cartron, Ballymore, Ballymore Lake and then back to Currower. It’s a fabulous walk with gorgeous views. The kids love it; there’s a lot to see every time we walk it.

“The walk is very hilly and we’re up some height from where the photo was taken. That’s Ballymore lake in the background.

Ruth’s is one of the many photos now entered into our Local Treasures competition. Visit our website and upload your photo for a chance to win a Thalgo Spiruline Beauty Hamper valued at €250.

Instagram Inspiration

This beautiful black and white photo popped up in our Instagram feed of former Irish Farmers Journal photographer @ramonafarrelly and her daughter Ava. It was taken by Ramona’s cousin @philip_rogan in 1997.

Time flies as this adorable baby will be 24 this May. Ramona’s picture got us thinking about the joy of pulling out a box of old photos and the emotional journey it can bring you on. We know many people are feeling isolated and lonely at this time, so maybe take a look back over happier times this weekend. And let’s look forward to brighter days when we can be all together again.
