Why and when did you set up Pear Shaped Studio?

I completed a course in graphic design and illustration in 2016. After a few years of just illustrating for myself, I decided to set up my business in 2019. I illustrate quirky style buildings and children's art.

What process do you use to create your products?

I use watercolour pencils, paint and inks to illustrate my pieces. I then turn the illustrations into cards and prints. I also have a small range of textiles.

What is your best seller/most popular piece?

One of Fiona Foley's best-selling pieces is her print of Cork city

I illustrated Cork city in a circular format to represent the River Lee as it splits and rejoins at Cork Harbour. The inner circle represents Morrison’s Island and the outer circle represents the quays.

What is it about your business that brings you joy?

I love illustrating, even if the end result isn't perfect. I started creating a lot more work since the start of the pandemic by just drawing almost every day.

What are your hopes for your business for 2022?

You can find Pear Shaped Studio products on Etsy or follow on Instagram @pearshapedstudio

I hope to keep growing my little business and to keep creating new work. I would love to work on some new projects and maybe exhibit work this year.

What is the best piece of advice you would give a start-up business?

Just to go for it; it doesn't have to be perfect.
