It was with great sadness that the FTMTA learned of the recent death of, retired Teagasc researcher, Bernard Rice who was a recipient of the FTMTA gold award with which he was presented on the opening day of the FTMTA Farm Machinery Show 2009.
The FTMTA gold award is presented by the association to recognise the exceptional contributions made and support given by individuals to the farm machinery industry.
FTMTA recognised Bernard with the award for his outstanding career of research and advice on many areas of farm mechanisation in Ireland. It was in particular a recognition of his lifelong work towards the development of spraying technology and operator training to achieve higher standards of operation, and for his pioneering development of biofuel technology in Ireland.

The award also recognised his many years of support and advice for the activities of the Farm Tractor & Machinery Trade Association and its member firms.
We offer our sympathies to Bernard’s family and friends.
May he rest in peace.
