Following an earlier preview at Agritechnica last November, Claas has now launched the Torion 537e Sinus, the manufacturer’s first fully electric battery-powered loader.
The machine sits in the 6t class with a total operating weight of 5,910kg. The maximum lift height when fully raised is 3.21m to the pivot pins.
The new electric model is heavily based on the existing Torion 537 Sinus diesel model. However, the diesel engine and hydrostatic transmission have been swapped out for a modular style lithium-ion battery powered powertrain with a maximum forward peed of 30km/h.
As standard, one single 32.2kWh battery is offered, with a second battery option available at the point of order or available for retrofit at a later stage, taking the total battery capacity to 64.4kWh.
The only downside to fitting the second battery at a later stage is that fast DC charging will be unavailable.

During operation, 30kW is provided for the drive system and 15kW for the hydraulic pump. Claas has quoted run times of up to eight and 16 hours, depending on whether one or two batteries are fitted and the working conditions. Regenerative braking feeds energy back into the battery.
Depending on the on-board charger and the available connection power, the battery can be fully charged in just one and a half to three hours. Claas quotes a charge time of 50 minutes to charge from 20% to 80% using a 400v (32amp) charging system.

The hydraulic pump delivers 75l/min at 240 bar pressure to the Z-bar kinematic boom. The Smart Loading assistance system is fitted as standard and is designed to aid the operator at repetitive tasks. This includes programmable lifting heights and lowering heights, as well as automatic bucket return for faster and more precise loading cycles.
The unique Sinus steering system combines both the 30-degree articulated steering system and a self-steering rear axle system which offers a maximum steering angle of 25 degrees, together offering a minimum turning radius of just over 3.5m. The self-steering rear axle works via a push rod connected to the front axle.
The loader is fully equipped with the latest digital offering from Claas, allowing machine management via Claas Connect which allows mobile access to the machine’s location and operating parameters.
