In an era where issues of soil compaction, labour and running costs are becoming more prevalent at the same time there is more horsepower available within contractor fleets, Krone feels it may have a solution to streamline raking and baling. At its Agritechnica preview, the manufacturer unveiled the Swadro BaleTrain TC 880 Pro, a factory-developed solution which combines both raking and baling in one single pass. The unit was pulling the new ComPack pro baler-wrapper.
Measuring just under 18.75m when hooked up to a tractor, Krone claim to be the first manufacturer to offer a factory solution of this kind.
The BaleTrain is based on a heavily modified version of the TC 880 twin rotor rake. The beefed-up rake is hitched to the tractor via a K80 ball and spoon and features a forced steering system for precise following of the baler. It is equipped with an end-to-end drive train for the PTO drive of the round baler.
There is a low/high speed for setting the rpm on the rake as a fixed 540rpm PTO speed is required for the baler. At the back of the rake there is the hitch, hydraulic/electrical connections and PTO required to run the baler. Alternatively, the baler can be operated with the rotors disengaged or alternatively, the unit can be separated and used individually.
The combination is operated via a new Isobus interface which includes many automated features like the Krone AutoBale system. This automates functions, such as the lifting of the rake’s rotors and pickup when the bale is being netted, the steering of the rake to ensure the chamber is filled evenly and the lifting of the rotors when the combination is being reversed.

The Krone AutoBale system combines several automatic functions to make the BaleTrain easier used.

The baler-wrapper can be unhitched leaving either machine that it can be used separately.
