HLR Machinery Ltd, Durrow, Co Laois, introduced two new ranges of Bergmann silage wagons at this week’s FTMTA Grass & Muck event.

The Bergmann Repex range is the smaller of the two and is designed for tractors from 140hp to 250hp, while the Carex is a significantly bigger machine.

There are two Repex models, the 30K and 32K, with DIN capacities of 30m3 and 32m3, respectively.

With fully sheeted sides and an open top, both Repex models can also be used as a combi-wagon for hauling maize or grass silage away from a harvester. Up front is a cam-less pick-up section with a working width of 1.94m.

This pick-up has six rows of tines, with 15 tines per row. The company claims that this is the same pick-up used in the larger Bergmann Carex wagons.

The seven-star feed/chopping rotor is 1.5m wide with a diameter of 0.75m.

Forty-one knives provide a theoretical chop length of 35mm.

Each knife has a spring protection with automatic knife reset.

There is a sloping steel floor with two pairs of chains and slats behind each rotor.

Each floor chain’s link measures 11mm x 31mm and the slats/scraper bars are welded to the chain.

Each chain has a tensile strength of 15t. Standard scraper floor drive is single speed, but two-speed floor drive is optionally available.

Both models have twin axles with triple-leaf spring suspension as standard.

The Repex series is designed for a gross vehicle weight of 18t. Tyre options include 560/45 R 22.5, 620/40 R 22.5 or 710/40 R 22.5.

Standard control system on the Repex series is the firm’s BCT 20 controller, which the company describes as very simple to operate with ergonomic configuration of the keys and easily programmable functions.

The entry price for the Repex 32K machine that was in action this week at the FTMTA Grass & Muck event is €78,534 plus VAT.

Bigger Carex wagon

The Bergmann Carex series features just one model, the 39K. The silage wagon has been designed for tractors from 160hp to 400hp. It has a DIN capacity of 39m3 and a maximum permissible gross weight of 24t.

The 1,000rpm rotor driveline on the Carex 39K incorporates a slim drive gearbox to a planetary gearbox driving the rotor. This driveline is rated for 400hp, according to Bergmann importer Henry Whitford of HLR Machinery, Durrow, Co Laois.

Mirroring the smaller Repex model, a 1.94m-wide cam-less pick-up is standard, with six rows of tines.

The Hardox rotor used in the Carex is the same width as the Repex but is larger in diameter at 850mm, with eight-star profile instead of seven. Forty-one knives are used again to provide a theoretical chop length of 35mm. Each knife features spring protection with automatic knife reset.

Two pairs of scraper floor chains and scrapers are used with scrapers/slats bolted onto large 14mm x 50mm chain links with a tensile strength of 25t. A two-speed floor drive with two motors comes as standard.

Like the Capex, the Carex can be used as either pick-up wagon or a trailer for hauling maize or grass silage. Options for the Carex 39K include partial front hydraulically operated bulkhead, hydraulic axle suspension and ISOBUS control system with or without controller for ISOBUS-compatible tractors.
