Well-known UK auction house Cheffins recently held a successful vintage auction, which saw an immaculate 1981 Massey Ferguson 1250 articulated tractor, displaying 2,774 hours, sell for €69,372 (£61,000) plus fees.

Concluding Cheffins’ vintage auctions for the year, the sale took place on 18 October at its Cambridgeshire salesground in England.

The auction included over 2,105 lots in total, of which 362 were vintage and classic tractors.

Other lots included classic commercials, motorcycles and cars, along with other automobilia.

Topping the sale on the day was an 1899 Burrell 6nhp SCC “Devonshire” road locomotive steam engine, which sold for an astonishing €192,202 (£169,000), followed by a 1915 Foden 4t steam wagon, which commanded €170,593 (£150,000).

However, back to diesel combustion tractors, an MB Trac 1600 is rumoured to have gone unsold at €97,806 (£86,000).

Highlights

Other sale highlights included a 1975 Ford 7000 tractor with dual power and load monitor, in immaculate condition, following a full nut and bolt restoration. It sold for €45,491 (£40,000).

This was followed by a restored 1963 Fordson Super Dexta three-cylinder, better known as Cheffins’ charity tractor, which was showcased at Lamma show this year as part of the firm’s 200th-year anniversary celebrations and helped raise over £200,000 for charity. The tractor sold for €43,217 (£38,000).

A 1990 Ford 7810 Silver Jubilee appearing to be in original condition and with 4,249 hours on the clock, sold for €39,805 (£35,000).

A 1973 Massey Ferguson 188 Multi-Power model in original condition and shod on its original Goodyear tyres with 1,102 hours sold for €36,393 (£32,000).

PowerQuad transmission

A 1984 International 1056, restored almost a decade ago sold for €34,118 (£30,000), a 2002 John Deere 7710 model with TLS and a 40km/h PowerQuad transmission, showing 12,112 hours, sold for €33,891 (£29,800).

A 1995 Deutz Fahr Agrostar 6.38 six-cylinder with 8,586 hours sold for €32,981 (£29,000). A 1971 Massey Ferguson 135 in immaculate condition, following a full restoration in 2012, sold for €28,432 (£25,000).

All lots were subject to 20% VAT, with the exception of the International which had no VAT. Commission was charged at 6% plus VAT.
