On Saturday 23 August, Hennessy Auctioneers hosted its online monthly collective machinery auction.

Both the live and timed elements of the sale attracted a huge entry of 890 lots, of which 91% were sold. With a record-breaking 2,000 bidders tuned in, this was the firm’s largest registration of the year so far.

Alongside the usual private entries, the sale included a number of special farm dispersal entries. Ciaran Hennessy from the Portlaoise-based auctioneering firm described the trade on the day as lively for all equipment.

This 2000 New Holland TM150 sold for €26,500.

Topping the sale was a 2015 John Deere 6150R which sold for €34,500 plus VAT and commission.

This was followed by a 2013 JCB 524-50 compact telehandler which sold for €28,000 plus VAT; a 2000 New Holland TM150 which sold for €26,500; and a tandem-axle HiSpec hook trailer complete with two bodies which sold for €20,000 plus VAT.

A 2001 Case IH sprayer with a 3,000l tank and 24m boom sold for €13,000 plus VAT; a Johnston 20ft tandem-axle livestock trailer sold for €12,300; and a Ford 3000 sold for €9,000.

This 2014 Kverneland 5m trailed disc harrow sold for €15,400 plus VAT.

Only lots listed as ‘plus VAT’ were subject to VAT, all other lots had no VAT. Commission was charged at 5% on top of the prices quoted and subject to a maximum fee of €1,000 per item.
