Grange Machinery has entered the trailed sector with the launch of its new 6m trailed low disturbance loosener.
According to the manufacturer, the machine has been two years in the making and was developed in response to increasing demand for a trailed soil loosener.
The first machine rolled off the production line earlier this month and is the result of a collaboration between Grange Machinery and J Beaty Farming, which purchased the first model.
Grange Machinery managing director Rhun Jones said breaking into the trailed sector was the realisation of a long-held ambition for the business.
He says the loosener paves the way for the development of further trailed implements, as Grange expands its portfolio to cater for different growing systems in the UK, Europe and the southern hemisphere.
Design
The trailed loosener sports the same features as the mounted version of the machine, including low disturbance loosening legs at 0.5m spacing, hydraulic front cutting discs and is compatible with a range of rear packer rollers.
Grange says that with the addition of a drawbar unit, the new model is not only set up for farms using trailed implements, it enables Grange Machinery to scale future machines.
Rhun said: “When I started Grange, I looked at a big, trailed machine and thought it would be great to get to that stage someday.
"Few years down the line, working closely with guys on the ground, our first production model has reached its new home.
"We’ve been asked if we do a trailed loosener for several years, so it has always been a plan to develop one. But the real impetus came when Richard Beaty asked Claas Manns for a trailed soil loosener and they contacted us with a view to making one.
"So, we got round the table and started to draw up some designs and the 6m trailed loosener was born. It’s a big milestone for us and I’m delighted we turned the plan into reality.
“As the trailed machine can be pulled by lower-horsepower tractors, it opens the door to us building bigger machines. The core chassis enables us to go wider.”
