Hennessy Auctioneers held its May monthly machinery auction on Saturday 23 May, where a 2010 John Deere 6830 topped the sale at €41,500 plus VAT.

The tractor was fitted with a John Deere 653 front-loader and displayed 4,434 hours on the clock.

The bumper monthly auction included almost 1,100 lots, excluding the usual timed auction of unsold items on the day, which ended on Monday.

The sale comprised a selection of special dispersal entries, all of which achieved a 100% clearance rate.

Despite the number of registered bidders falling on last month’s bumper figure of just under 2,000, some 1,500 registered this month, with the Portlaoise auction firm describing the trade as solid, with seasonal grass equipment selling well.

Other highlight lots included a 2008 John Deere 7430 with 14,000 hours sold for €29,000; a 2008 John Deere 6630 (one owner from new), with just shy of 13,000 hours and fitted with a front-loader, which sold for €28,500; a 2017 Strautmann Giga Vitesse 3601 forage wagon sold for €26,000; a 2008 JCB 4CX backhoe loader (farmer owned from new) sold at €28,500; a 2003 New Holland TM140 with 12,188 hours sold at €25,100 plus VAT and a 2003 New Holland TM120 sold at 19,250.

Other prices included €13,900 plus VAT which was paid for a 2011 Lely Lotus eight-rotor trailed tedder; €13,250 plus VAT paid for a 2017 Lely Welger RP245 round baler with 46,000 bales on the clock; and a John Deere 1365 trailed mower sold for €8,000 plus VAT.

Only lots listed as ‘plus VAT’ were subject to 23% VAT. Commission was charged at 5% on top of the prices quoted and subject to a maximum fee of €1,000/item. Hennessy Auctioneers’ next sale will take place on Saturday 20 June.
