Spread-a-Bale has opened a new manufacturing premises in Deeside, Wales.
The new facility has increased the company’s workshop floor threefold, which the firm says is required to step-up production to meet the increasing demand for its range of straw spreading machines.
Building five ranges of mounted straw spreaders, the company has a global network of dealers and distributors trading in 40 countries and within five continents.
It says total sales have grown to over 5,000 machines. Spread-a-Bale is the brainchild of former dairy farmer Michael Hughes.
“Relocating from nearby Ellesmere Port to the new premises marks a significant step in our business’s growth and development,” Hughes, who is also the firm’s chief executive, said.
“Spread-a-Bale started from humble beginnings on my Cheshire dairy farm 25 years ago when I was seeking a device that could take the hard graft out of manually spreading straw. I went on to design, develop and patent this unique, simple and efficient machine.
“Since then, the business has evolved by developing five different models with a choice of four different heads, offering a bespoke solution suited to all operations, regardless of scale and livestock species,” he said.
“Spread-a-Bale is also active in the recycling and recycling sector. Our new facilities will enable us to roll out our ambitious plans for the future supplying machines to enable our customer mix to improve their efficiency, sustainability and ultimately, their profitability.”
