Forestry equipment manufacturer Ponsse is meeting with its staff in Finland to discuss potential measures which may lead to temporary part-time or full-time layoffs for staff for up to 90 days during 2027.
According to Ponsee, the reason behind this is due to the uncertain market environment and the challenges faced by the forest industry which continue to affect the demand for its machinery. Ponsse says its order books are not at a sufficient level relative to production capacity.
The company’s profitability has also weakened. Ponsse says the cost-saving negotiations cover a total of 1,109 employees across Ponsse’s operations in Finland. “We will continue our customer work as normal, take care of our customers and ensure the continuity of our services even in the event of potential temporary layoffs,” said Juho Nummela, its president and CEO.
