McCormick is presenting its new X8.634 VT-Drive, the new flagship model of the X8 range. The new X8.634 VT-Drive is powered by the six-cylinder FPT N67 engine, delivering up to 340hp. McCormick says radiator maintenance and cleaning are simplified and efficient, thanks to a bonnet opening of 90° and the Matrix Cooling System featuring a quick-release latch accessible via a single handle.

The X8.634 VT-Drive is equipped with the ZF TMT32 continuously variable transmission (CVT) with four electronically managed stages, combining smooth engagement of multi-plate oil-cooled clutches with planetary gear sets. The manufacturer says it reaches a top speed of 50 km/h in eco mode at just 1,580 rpm. The rear PTO features three selectable speeds (540ECO, 1000, 1000ECO), and offers modulated, adjustable start-up and unlimited power, with a front PTO available as an option.

Standard equipment includes the front axle with integrated brakes and the front suspension with a parallelogram system, electronically controlled from the multifunction armrest. The fully floating suspension is automatic above 15 km/h.

The front linkage features a lifting capacity of up to 5,000 kg, while the rear hitch is capable of lifting up to 12,000 kg through quick couplers and additional cylinders. The closed-centre load-sensing hydraulic system (CCLS) delivers a flow rate of 212 l/min with a dedicated 115 l/min steering pump. In addition, up to six rear and three front spool valves are offered. These are supplied through a separate circuit from the transmission, with a dedicated 90-litre tank.

McCormick Clever Cab.

Cab

McCormick says the highlight is the Clever Cab. The new cab benefits from more headroom and also gains an improved finish and ergonomics of the controls. Inside the cab there is 14% more volume, resulting in an increased headroom height of 76mm. Visibility has also been improved as a result of a 16% increase in glass coverage. There is an additional 120mm of seat travel. The Clever Cab claims to be a quieter working environment, with up to 67dB in VT models. To the rear of the cab, there is now a larger rear window, new rear mirrors and a new fender design, with new LED lights and fender controls for the rear PTO and lift, a s well as hydraulic services.

Its standard 12” DSM Plus (Data Screen Manager Plus) touchscreen monitor is now paired with a second 12” digital dashboard with encoder control. The second 12” screen is located centrally in front of the driver, where the traditional tractor dash is placed.

This duo integrates McCormick’s own newly developed in-house suite of management software for in-field operations and remote diagnostics, a platform that is said to be in development for more than five years. These two new displays appear in a crisper, tablet like display, rather than previous versions which were perhaps perceived as being that bit chunkier. One nice feature which will be widely welcomed is the incorporation of the GPS receiver into the cab roof, rather than it being externally mounted. The Clever Cab’s four-speaker Alpine audio system, is now compatible with Apple Car Play and Android Auto, completes the picture.

McCormick says the X8.634 VT-Drive has everything to deliver smart solutions for Agriculture 4.0. It integrates McCormick Fleet Management, Remote Diagnostics, and Farm Management, supporting fleet supervision, remote diagnostics, prescription maps, traceability, and sustainability (along with software updates).

Tyre inflation

Other features available on the new models include McCormick’s Eazy Grip automatic tyre inflation and deflation system and the Central Grease System, which provides proportional automatic lubrication to the major grease points.

With 340hp on tap, McCormick is presenting its new X8.634 VT-Drive tractor, which is the Italian manufacturers new flagship offering.
