A merger in the mushroom sector is expected to be announced on Thursday in Co Tipperary.
The Irish Farmers Journal understands that a deal between Walsh Mushrooms based in Co Wexford and Golden Mushrooms based in Golden, Co Tipperary, will officially be announced on Thursday 19 January.
Walsh Mushrooms is a composter as well as grower and marketer of mushrooms into the UK.

Walsh Mushrooms is the second -largest composter in Ireland after Monaghan Mushrooms.
Golden Mushrooms fills approximately 150t of phase-three compost every week and produces approximately 60t to 70t of mushrooms every week.
Golden would also have been exporting to the UK market.
