The ninth annual Know Your Neighbour weekend is taking place this weekend, 12 and 13 July. The initiative aims to bring neighbours together to socialise and have fun.
The theme is ‘Neighbours – Near and Far’ in recognition of our many neighbours living abroad.

Groups and individuals across Ireland will come together to hold events with their neighbours – from a coffee morning to a family fun day in the park – and Macra are asking them to try to include their neighbours living abroad.
With technology, these neighbours are nearer than ever – why not Skype your neighbours at the event and give everyone a chance to say hello? Another option would be to send them a postcard signed by all their neighbours so they know they’re still part of the gang at home.
“The Know Your Neighbour weekend slogan is ‘don’t walk by, say hi’ – a simple action that could open up doors,” said Macra president Kieran Dowd.
It’s not too late to organise an event and those interested can find more information on knowyourneighbour.ie, where you will get event ideas, tips and resources you can download. You can also see what’s happening in your local area and go along to an event. Register your event on the website or by texting KYN followed by your name and address to 51444.
