Mark Priestly’s Seaforde Flock enjoyed a successful day at the NI National Texel sale at Ballymena last Saturday, topping both the ram lamb and gimmer trade.
Seaforde Joshua, a son of 15,000gns Hilltop Icon with a dam sired by Auldhouseburn Gazza, reached the top price of 30,000gns and was purchased by Forkins, Curley, Collarrock, Glenparke and Hillview flocks.
A son of Speenogue Ignite, Cherrylea Johnny’s Pride took the second highest price of the day.
The ram lamb who has a dam sired by Garngour Challenger, realised 20,000gns for young texel breeder Charlie Trimble. He was purchased by a consortium of Scottish buyers.
Richard Henderson took home 15,000gns for Ballynahone Jagerbomb, while the Harkin family sold The Rock Jock for 12,000gns.
Across 207 ram lambs sold, the average price was up from £2,003 in 2025 to £2,128 this year.
Among shearling rams on offer, Ballycoose Ignatus, a Scolton Fieldmarshall son from Fraser and Helen Tweed received the highest price of 7,000gns.
Also sired by the same ram was Ballycoose 16, which realised 5,000gns. In total, 89 shearling rams sold to average £1,765.
A daughter of Drumbreddan Hard Ass continued Mark Priestly’s successful sale, topping the gimmer trade at 3,800gns.
Across 40 gimmers sold, prices averaged £1,189.
