The first of three Suffolk ram sales in NI this week took place in Ballymena Mart on Monday, with local Suffolk breeders offering 163 ram lambs for sale.

There was a 70% sale clearance, with an average of £1,104 for the 112 ram lambs sold.

Two ram lambs achieved the top price of 3,500gns. The first was from Timothy Lamont’s Triplek flock in Co Antrim, and out of the top 1% terminal Sheep Ireland index ram, Kilduff King and homebred Triplek Titanium dam. Also at 3,500gns was an ET ram lamb from Jack Smyth’s Bessiebell flock in Tyrone, sired by Kilduff Tommy and out of a The Views V6 Jalex dam.

Symth also sold two full brothers to his top-priced ram for 3,100gns and 2,500gns. The overall champion went to Campbell and Jason Watson of the Bannview flock in Co Antrim. The Noan Commodore son sold for 1,600gns.
