Gold medals, championship sashes, All-Ireland titles and so much more are on the line this Sunday 10 August, as the FBD National Livestock Show in Tullamore takes place.
As Ireland’s largest one-day show, the excitement is exhilarating for exhibitors and spectators alike. The 250-acre showgrounds are busily being prepared and the tents erected as show day draws near.
Chairman John Keena and secretary Chelsey Cox McDonald are working from morning to night with all the teams, leaving no stone unturned, to ensure everything runs like clockwork.
The planning that goes into Tullamore Show from every angle is what makes it Ireland’s premier show.
Across the country exhibitors are preparing their animals for the ultimate prize, a national title. Multiple national championships are on the line across the various breeds.
For many, Tullamore Show is the pinnacle event on the show calendar, a place where the best meets the best.
Bakers are busy planning their own exhibits as are all the indoor home industries. A staggering 750 trade stands will be on site, with everything from a sewing needle to homeware, garden requirements and farm machinery.
For the first time, the Sustainable Livestock Village will be powered by hydrogen, with the official opening by An Taoiseach Micheál Martin taking place at 12pm.
As always, there will be many politicians and dignitaries in attendance to discuss all things agriculture.
If you do make the journey, be sure to take a break and listen to the music acts that are lined up, or dance the afternoon away from 4pm to 6pm to the sound of Patrick Feeney and his band.
The Irish Farmers Journal livestock team will be on the Irish Farmers Journal stand from early morning to talk all things farming. Located in our usual place along the main roadway overlooking the action-packed cattle rings, be sure to drop in and say hello.
Live demos will be taking place on the stand throughout the day.
