Some of the finest Belgian Blue cattle in Ireland descended on Ossory Agricultural Show on Sunday 27 July for the Irish Belgian Blue Cattle Society's all-Ireland calf finals.

Judges Denise and Tim O'Donovan from Co Cork were treated to a tremendous line-up of over 35 calves across five all-Ireland classes.

Clinching the first championship of the day was Heatherview Roxie, exhibited by local breeders Tommy and Pauline Fitzgerald.

Glittered with a decorative show career, Roxie has been the star at numerous shows across the country over the past two years and on Sunday, she claimed the Ashbourne Meats all-Ireland breeding heifer championship.

The rising two-year-old superstar is a daughter of the great Boherard Overdose ET and Heatherview Grace.

Senior bull calf champion

Ballintine Spartacus ET was draped with the championship sash in the senior bull calf championship to the delight of breeder Peter McCabe from Co Kildare.

Born in September 2024, he is a son of Tattoo VD Sysloberg, while his dam is the Fakir-bred daughter Ballintine Oreo ET.

In the senior heifer calf championship, Laois breeder Billy Dunne reigned supreme with Errill Suzie, an October 2024-born daughter of the aforementioned Tattoo VD Sysloberg.

Long De Waffles daughter

Championship honours in the junior heifer calf section went the way of Liam Lynch's Kilmainham Tia Maria.

This January 2025-born heifer is a daughter of Long De Waffles and Kilmainham Joy.

Claiming the last of the all-Ireland calf championships was Neil Blennerhassett from Co Kerry with his January 2025-born bull calf Culleeneybeg Thomas.
