Buyers from all corners of Ireland were out in force in Central Auctions Roscrea, for the Irish Suffolk Sheep Society’s Premier show and sale.

Leading the way at this year’s show and sale was a hogget ram from the Wexford-based Duncormick flock of John and Liam Martin. This hogget ram, crowned male supreme champion and the show’s overall supreme champion, was sired by Noan Brewster and is out of a Kells Billy ewe. He not only caught the eye of the judge, but also many prospective buyers, and after some lively bidding the hammer eventually fell at €2,700. The Duncormick flock also sold two ram lambs for €1,250 and €1,000.

James Rooney’s powerful ram lamb took the reserve supreme champion of the show. Sired by Harpercroft Gold out of a Malinhead Jackpot 2 ewe, he sold for €1,650.
