Harrison & Heatherington Livestock auctions Carlisle hosted an online pedigree sheep sale late last month with entries from across the UK and Northern Ireland for a number of breeds.

One breed which garnered a lot of attention was the Blue Texel, proving to be in high demand throughout the sale. Most of the top lots in the section came from Northern Irish breeders, who led the way in the shearling ewe, ram lamb and ewe lamb sections.

Topping the sale were A and J Carson with their shearling ewe Fyfin Blue Diamond, a Hackney Xrated daughter bred off the 2019 reserve Balmoral champion imported ewe from Koen Ryckaert. This powerful ewe sold for £5,400 to establish a new flock for D and R McFarland in Co Tyrone.
