The driving rain and fierce winds of storm Boelo were no match for the consigners and buyers at the Plumbridge annual blackface ram sale on Saturday 24 October.
Despite unfavourable conditions, trade was strong throughout a large turnout of 236 blackface rams.
It was a day to remember for Derry native C Conway, whose shearling ram led the way, selling for the top price of the day at a commendable 7,500gns.
Sired by a ram purchased from Brian Devine, Stroanbrack, for £1,800 and out of a homebred ewe regarded as one of the favourite ewes in the flock, the top-priced shearling ram was knocked down to John Dickson and his nephew Zach.
Patrick and John Harkin, Loughash, also commanded a notable trade with a pair of ram lambs, both of which realised 3,200gns.
The first, a son of £65,000 Auldhouseburn, was purchased by fellow breeder Gavin Cannon, while the second, sired by £18,000 Dalchirla, heads to Co Antrim with Hugh Crawford.
Creditable year
The Harkins of The Rock continued a creditable year of ram sales with a trio of ram lambs selling for 2,000gns each, while Brian Devine, Stroanbrack, followed suit, achieving the same price with his leading ram lamb.
M & S Conway recorded a good pen average, selling to a top of 1,900gns with the second-highest-priced shearling ram of the day.
