Recognised across Ireland and the UK, Solpoll Herefordds is one of Northern Ireland’s leading pedigree Hereford enterprises. Established in 1953, Solpoll is the longest established active herd in Northern Ireland and the longest established polled herd in Ireland.
Over the years many Solpoll cattle, semen and embryos have been exported throughout the UK, Ireland and Europe. In the past 20 years, an impressive 12 Solpoll bulls have been made available through Irish AI companies, with the herds previous stockbull, Panmure 1 Henry, siring the Irish record price female at €22,000. Just this year, Solpoll set a new record price for a Hereford bull in Northern Ireland, when Solpoll 1 Braveheart sold for 6,800gns in Dungannon.
Sale details
On Saturday 13 September, the herd will stage it’s first ever on-farm sale at 58 Belfast Road, Ballygowan, Co Down, BT23 6NA. Bidding will be available ringside or online via MartEye through Halls Livestock Auction. Viewing is from 11am with the sale beginning at 1pm.
The sale will consist of 19 breeding females, including the entire spring 2024 -born heifer group. As well as this, it will include six potential stock bulls, two of which have been used in the Solpoll herd this summer, including Solpoll 1 Boomer, who is the service sire to nine of the in-calf heifers. There are also embryos and semen available, including the last semen from Panmure 1 Henry ever to be sold.
