The Kilvilcorris Charolais herd heifer production sale, which took place last Friday evening in GVM Marts, Tullamore, saw 27 heifers on offer with the sale average coming in just shy of €3,500.
The top call on the night saw Kilvilcorris Saoirse 2, sired by Bunratty Mike Tyson, secure €4,600 when she sold to a pedigree breeder in Co Cork. The November 2021-born heifer was bred from an Enfield Plexus cow and was a myostatin non-carrier.
Up next was the October 2022-born Kilvilcorris Tori that sold for €4,500. Tori is a Doonally New (CF52) daughter and was bred from a homebred Pirate dam.
The third highest price of the night was secured for the September 2021-born heifer, Kilvilcorris Skyla, that sold for €4,400. Again, sired by the herd stock bull Bunratty Mike Tyson, this heifer was also bred from a Pirate dam.
Trailing closely behind and selling for €4,200 was another Bunratty Mike Tyson-cross Pirate-bred heifer, this time it was the December 2021-born Kilvilcorris Sonic.
Hitting the €4,000 mark at Friday night’s sale was an October 2021-born heifer, Kilvilcorris Scarlett. Scarlett is a Grimaldi daughter bred from a CF52-cross Pirate dam.
