The recent Kells Suffolk flock on-farm sale of in-lamb hoggets and ewe lambs met excellent demand and a full clearance.
The sale toppers were keenly sought after with lot 22, a stand-out hogget sired by Kilduff Bouncer/Tommy from a ewe purchased from Bessiebell and in-lamb to Cregmore Dare to Dream, selling to John and Heather Watson, Cornascriebe Suffolks for €4,400.
Another stand-out hogget, lot 10, that was sired by the well-renowned Kells T-Rex from a ewe by the €12,000 Crewelands Frontline and in lamb to Islandmoyle Dapper sold to Michael Hastings, Western Suffolks for €2,600.

The general run of prices for in-lamb hogget ewes was €1,200 to €2,000. Competition was boosted by strong online interest from European customers and numerous lots purchased by breeders in Germany, Croatia, Spain and Belgium.
The top-priced ewe lamb sold for €2050 to Derek Baskin, Railstown Suffolks.
The rest of the show ewe lambs were snapped up by Andrew Lucas, Finnvale Suffolks, The O’Keeffe Family in Cork and Noel and Sandra Black, Velvet Suffolks.
The general run of ewe lambs sold from €1,200 to €1,600 with choice lots above this range.
