Win for Abbie Sweetnam

Cork’s Abbie Sweetnam won the 1.30m Pony Grand Prix at Chevenez, France, with Dynamite Spartacus and also won the EY Cup as the most consistent rider over the Big Tour series at shows throughout Europe this year. Co Clare’s Robbie Clancy also won the Small Tour EY Cup for Ireland.

Meanwhile, Kilkenny’s Susan Fitzpatrick was third in the Dijon CSI** 1.50m Grand Prix with Cavalino.

O’Neill test rider

Kilkenny’s international rider and Lanaken gold medal winner Ger O’Neill has accepted an invitation from the Warmblood Studbook of Ireland to serve as Test Rider for the upcoming stallion inspections.

Curran second in Morocco

Waterford army rider Capt Geoff Curran was runner-up with Ringwood Glen (ISH) at the three-star Arab League World Cup qualifier at Rabat, Morocco. Curran held the lead until outpaced by former World Number One Pius Schwitzer on Balou Rubin R. Kilkenny’s Marion Hughes finished 10th with Can Ya Makan.

Curragh exhibition

The Curragh exhibition of fascinating racing memorabilia remains open at the racecourse until tomorrow (Friday, 14 October), from 10am to 4pm. Admission is €5 and free in for students. The 2017 season at the Curragh includes 18 racedays from 13 May to 10 September. Work on the new Curragh development will start in January 2017.

Roll up for Ballyduff ride

The Ballyduff Upper Annual Funride takes place on Sunday, 16 October, at 1pm, gathering at Lyons Cross.

Suitable for all levels of ability with separate horse and pony groups. The proceeds go to local community projects and local charities.
