The Dealer was intrigued by the French Salers bull Beguin hitting the headlines earlier this week for all the wrong reasons.
Beguin has been the top bull on the ICBF replacement index active bull list since 2015. Questions were raised about the number of records feeding into this index but the Dealer did some digging and found that Beguin has 735 progeny registered in France and ranks in the top 1% on the French maternal system.
Pedigree breeders have called for foreign data to be included in the Irish evaluation system for many years but it seems you just can’t keep some people happy.
