I see that Corkman Jerry O’Callaghan has been appointed as chair of JBS, the world’s largest meat processing company.
Quite the feat for a man who packed his bag and left from these shores to the Samba world in 1979.
He worked in various beef joints for over 20 years, before joining the burgeoning JBS in 1996.

He grafted his way up the ladder to eventually holding the lofty role as head of investor relations, as well as working in the group’s international business division.
With O’Callaghan doing his thing, JBS went through a rapid phase of expansion in the early 2000s.
It’s not all rosy for O’Callaghan, though. He is being investigated by the Brazilian securities regulator, which has accused him of violating his duty as head of investor relations with JBS, by failing to properly question senior management and controlling shareholders in the company as part of the current corruption scandal.
Local boy done good … apart from the major investigation, mind you.
