The driver of a vehicle in Mallow was stopped on Friday by the traffic corps from the north Cork division of An Garda Siochána for a list of road traffic offences.
First off, gardaí say, there was no tachograph in use. This is a device that automatically records a vehicle’s speed and distance. Secondly, according to the gardaí, the driver had no certificate of competency.
The guards added that the maximum allowable weight for this vehicle and trailer was 9.5t but “as you can see, the combined weights were far in excess of this”.

According to gardaí, this was "the last straw" and the driver got “bale”.
