Speculation was rife last week as to who would replace Martin Ryan as the manager of Thurles Mart.
Martin Ryan left the job last month to take up a new role with Glanbia agribusiness. I had heard that Tipperary hurling manager Michael Ryan was in the mix but I have since learned that Martin’s son, Martin Jr, has won the gig.
Formerly of Dawn Meats, Martin Jr is now one of the country’s youngest mart managers. By all accounts, Ryan the younger did a spectacularly good interview and we wish him the very best in the new role.
