Liam O’Meara extended his lead at the top of the Showjumping Ireland National Grand Prix League to 27 points at Galway Equestrian Centre last Sunday. Thirty combinations started over Tom Holden’s 1.40m track, with 13 of those making it through to the timed decider. O’Meara was first to go with Mr Coolcaum, breaking the beam in 41.86 seconds. O’Meara held on to win by almost three seconds. Sven Hadley and Sumas Taloubet were clear in 44.88s for the runner-up position. Last to go with Curraghraigue Jack Take Flight, O’Meara only had his own time to beat and finished in a time of 47.61s for third place.

Darryl Walker produced the fastest four fault round in 42.86s to slot into fourth place with Cushions. Paul Beecher was the only other rider to qualify two for the jump-off but faulted once in a time of 45.40s with Ikona V’T Recht Eind for fifth place, ahead of Martin Hynes and Galway Brigade (0/4 48.53s) in sixth.

After six rounds of the League, O’Meara occupies the top spot with 43 points. His mounts, Curraghgraigue Jack Take Flight and Mr Coolcaum head the horse leaderboard with 26 and 24 points respectively.
